Solstice, sunshine and shedding

Happy summer solstice to those of you in the northern hemisphere. This picture was taken just before midnight on June 20th. The solstice actually occurred around 4pm today, earlier than it has in over 60 years. Still lots of sunshine here, about 22 hours today. Hard to believe that the days will be getting shorter, feels like summer has barely said hello and finally sat down for a glass of iced tea. For those of you who do not care for the crazy amounts of fur being spewed out by your pets, it will now begin its decline (for awhile). Dogs started howling about 1.5 seconds after midnight. Kind of kooky, how do they know??

Make hay while the sun shines..... it's a busy time.

C Back in Nome

Clint has been in Nome on Aaron's crew for the All Alaska Sweepstakes race. Sounds like it's been pretty crazy and a good race. We'll get some details about it soon.

Into Nome!!

Clint reached the end of his journey to Nome early on Thursday morning, at 3:23 AM. He reached Nome in 11 days, 12 hours and 23 minutes. Even though he tried to do some barrel racing just before the chute, Lonely was his superstar leader bringing him into town in single lead. After ditching his race plan complicated by some pretty significant GI illness, he is just happy to get to Nome. The 9 dogs that he finished with looked really great. They yipped and jumped when he started to move from the line down to the dog lot!

White Mountain

Today I caught a ride (plane) to White Mountain, where all the dogs and mushers take an 8 hour layover. Clint was totally surprised and looked great. He picked up some back meds and he's eating real food now. He should be in around 4 am! Here are some pics from today.

Bonnie and Clyde's day

Harness training! First run for Bonnie and Clyde, the 9 month pups that the litter was split with Zack and their female Emerald. They are fulllll of energy and had no issues at all. Very fun to see the new rockstars!
